Overview

Sarova Shaba sits in Shaba National Reserve, the third of the three parks that make up the greater Samburu ecosystem, about an hour from Samburu's main gates.

The lodge is built around natural springs, and water channels run through the gardens and public areas — an unexpected oasis in an otherwise arid landscape and a magnet for birds.

Eighty-five rooms make it one of the larger properties in the area, and it works well for families and groups combining Shaba with Samburu and Buffalo Springs.

Shaba National Reserve, adjoining the Samburu ecosystem. Samburu National Park is reached by a 5–6 hour drive from Nairobi or a 1 hour 15 minute scheduled flight to the Samburu or Kalama airstrips, followed by a short transfer. See our guide to getting there.
