Overview

Samburu Intrepids has been welcoming visitors to the park for decades and remains one of the best mid-range options inside the park boundary.

Twenty-eight tents are raised on wooden platforms along the river, connected by walkways through the riverine forest. Interiors are comfortable rather than designer, and the camp's strength is its location and its guides.

A dedicated children's programme, a good pool and reliable service make it a practical choice for families who still want a genuine tented experience.

Location

Riverbank inside Samburu National Park. Samburu National Park is reached by a 5–6 hour drive from Nairobi or a 1 hour 15 minute scheduled flight to the Samburu or Kalama airstrips, followed by a short transfer. See our guide to getting there.
